Gamification of travel
What do you all think people would think of an iphone or android app that turned travel into a game? It may be an interesting and fun idea IMO. Things like checking into sights and restaurants and getting experience points, leveling up, leaderboards for who's visited cities' tourist sights most and tried a variety of restaurants, countries, etc. There could be minigames and quizzes that you can take after you visit tourist sights to get points for knowing the history, etc, of the sight. Then there could also be points rewards for outdoor activities, like hiking. You'd do things like taking photos of the top of a mountain and turning on location services on a smartphone, and get rewarded with experience points and badges for trying new things when traveling. There could a prize system, where if you pay a certain amount per month, you can use "points" to pay for souvenirs to be delivered to your home after a trip depending on where you went. Anyone like the idea? Some people, I have heard, are opposed to gamification in general. But I wondered what travelers would think of it. Do you think this is a good idea?
