European Health Insurance Card Survey

Just a quick question to all you folk from Western Europe! :-) Im trying to determine how many of these EHI (Blue health insurance cards) have expiry dates. I'm from Ireland and I know that our cards do, but just trying to get an idea of what its like in the other 26 member states.

Just state your country and: Yes/No to the expiry date query

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend! :-)

Netherlands: No (?)

The Dutch system does not seem to work the way you describe, little of which I can recognize. I have a health insurance policy with coverage in Europe, but I do not have any sort of 'card' of any color with an expiration date. My policy is good for the year I've paid for it.

UK - Yes.

I believe there are more than the 26 (27?) involved - certainly Switzerland.

Belgium: Yes

It expires at the end of each year and then you have to ask for a new one.

You're welcome.

No need to have a survey. This section of the European Commission's official website shows the designs of the EHIC in each EU member state and helpfully mentions at the top of the page: "The front of the card looks the same and carries the same information, although in different languages, in each country." So yes, all of them will have an expiry date, and it is located in the bottom right-hand corner.

My first reply is still awaiting censorship or approval from the mods.
When you do a google image search on EHIC cards you will see that they are all uniform and all have an expiry date.

Next interesting question for the OP could be, when does your card expires?
Mine as written, expires at the end of each year.

Assuming that the question is: do your EHIC cards have an expiry date?

Er...Ireland doesn't appear on Riesling's EU link to the card.

Is it a new thing in Ireland?
