Really? In one SM Mall we were in (I can't remember where) there wasn't any toilet paper in the toilets (not even paper towels to dry our hands). My partner asked why and he was told it was because people kept breaking open the plastic holders and stealing the big rolls, so the management of that particular shopping centre had stopped supplying toilet paper in the toilets.
lol. no it isn't. It's usually about 11 for a single roll, which they sell seperately and not wrapped up in any plastic.. I went into some pharmacy on Sqiuijor a few weeks ago and after I'd bought a a few flu tablets they couldn't rip me off for because the prices were marked, they tried to charge me 37 pesos for one, I just told them forget it and walked away over the street and got the same item at a sari for 12. Hilarious. You obviously get ripped off so often, you think it's normal.

speaking of motorcycles and behavior, I remember back when I first came to the PI, i was in someplace, a bank or store and the GF waited outside. When I came out she was sitting on a motorcycle playing with her phone or some such thing. I asked her if she knew the owner of the bike and she said of course not. To me that was unbelievable, to just climb on some strangers bike and sit there. In terms of behavior I was use to in the States that would be very taboo and lead to a confrontation, even touching someones bike could do that. There is a different level of privacy and personal property in the PI16
everyone always regards parked motorbikes as like public seating the Philippines in fact I'm surprised you haven't realised that by now. and that it doesn't mean anything at all Look on the bright side. It means you yourself can sit on any motorbike any time you like, and nobody will mind - unless of course the owner happens to be some foreign idiot that doesn't understand that the notion of private property and personal space is very different here than what they are used to. I've heard of foreigners getting into confrontational situations for this, and actually taking Filipinos to task and cursing them out, for sitting on their bike when of course the Filipino can't understand what they are supposed to have done wrong.17
I do realize it Callippo, I was talking about 12 years ago and the I first time I ran into it. Heck I deal with it all the time now with my multicab. I find people sitting in it all the time. Its parked next to a basketball court and is used as a viewing stand. I have chairs in the back they take out and use, I just gather them up again when we need them18
I doubt whether toilet paper would be stolen from a public CR in the PhilippinesReally? being a tightwad is how you become a billionaire Lobby, you don't do it by being a spendthrift lol. Your probably too young to be familiar with J. Paul Getty. He was an oil tycoon once considered the richest man in the world. He had a pay phone installed in his house because he felt his guests were taking advantage of him using his phone for long distance calls22
And when J Paul's grandson was kidnapped he refused to pay the ransom. The kidnappers sent the grandsons ear and threatened to send him back in bits if they didn't get 3 million. He finally relented but still would only pay 2.2 million as apparently that amount is tax deductible and loaned his son the final $800,000 @ 4% interest Now that's a tightwad!24
it's not unknown for rich kidnap victims to be tight wads even when they are kidnapped themselves. When one of Hong Kong's mega rich Teddy Wang was kidnapped and his wife Nina paid the ransom, he criticized her when he was freed, for paying too much. But it came back at him later when he was kidnapped again. This time she only paid of the ransom demand, not the whole lot, and he disappeared for good.28
