My first night in country I was bit up really bad on the left side -- and nearly four weeks later still can see the marks.
Second week I was here the people two doors down from me got bit up, and the hotel put the blankets and mattresses out in the sun all day, draped over lounge chairs, as their way of getting rid of the bugs.
Last week I got another short string of bites on my neck -- it's not the mosquitoes, which only bite once and move on.
And now just about to leave the country, I'm in a place again with blankets hanging over railings in the sun, and my mattress is filthy and rather than flip it over and re-make the bed, I'm just going to throw my sheets on the floor and sleep on the hardwood.
I'm not going to name hotel names, because I think a lot of places are housing bugs. All I'm saying is that you need to be aware of the bedbugs here in Burma!

Experts suggest that bed bugs have spread due to increased international travel.
You know bedbugs invaded NYC last year.
So now Burma. wel, wel ,wel.
I stayed in some fairly dodgy guesthouses my last trip there and didn't see any bugs. Oddly, the only time I EVER saw a bug was a wily cockroach in the nicest place I stayed the entire trip!!! (And the only time I have ever seena roach in a hotel in Myanmar!)
I've been to Burma twice, staying a month each time in low budget accommodation, and have never encountered such problems. Sorry you had to experience that but you might have got one stuck in the seam of your clothing which reactivated itself every now and then!

Bedbugs in Burma
OK, I've been almost four weeks in Burma now and bedbugs have struck three times. My first night in country I was bit up really bad on the left side -- and nearly four weeks later still can see the marks.

No bed bugs for me when in Burma, all good. Although struck them a few times in India and China and found by putting on Deet gave me a good nights bite-free sleep.7
Bedbugs often spread by hitching rides on people's clothing.Experts suggest that bed bugs have spread due to increased international travel.

Please name the hotels. It does us no good to simply complain about bedbugs.I stayed in some fairly dodgy guesthouses my last trip there and didn't see any bugs. Oddly, the only time I EVER saw a bug was a wily cockroach in the nicest place I stayed the entire trip!!! (And the only time I have ever seena roach in a hotel in Myanmar!)

" name the hotels"" On the other hand a hotel can just be unlucky to get bugs and when discovered they may do their best to get rid of them... Being blacklisted as a bug hotel would hardly be fair....fwiw ive been a dozen times or so to Burma...in all kinds of accom. and have yet to encounter bed bugs...13
#1, I agree with the posts here that mention that you might have picked up the bugs somewhere and transported them along with you...I've been to Burma twice, staying a month each time in low budget accommodation, and have never encountered such problems. Sorry you had to experience that but you might have got one stuck in the seam of your clothing which reactivated itself every now and then!
