2There was a sort of Mexican place in Playa - 5ta B - a block from the Aparthotel Montehabana (?), is it ?
Here it is - though they have the address slightly wrong - it is two blocks from 5ta - http://www.cubaabsolutely.com/Havana_Guide/to_eat1.php?cuba=35
Asking the best Chinese restaurant is like asking who's the best lay !

3I liked the Chinese restaurant in Marina Hemingway. I think this is the one (though again the address given doesn't quite match). - http://www.cubaabsolutely.com/Havana_Guide/to_eat1.php?cuba=6

4And if you want Asian fusion - http://www.cubaabsolutely.com/Havana_Guide/to_eat1.php?cuba=16

The Hemingway resto is touted as "cuba's best chinese" - haven't yet been; too far to bike
Nao - Asian fusion some like it, some say "meh"
Mi Jardin - the one mentioned by beardo on 5tab. So so food, pricey, slow service, nice house
Tien tan - end of cuchillo barrio chino - probably most authentic (take w shaker of salt) now that it services thousands of chinese studying/working in Cuba
La Pachanga - pork tacos are probably closest you'll come to mexico here.
La Burrita in VEdado (H bw 19 & 21 or so) is cheap and has semblance of burritos

8Los compadres, wow! what a web site, how Cuba is changing! How is the food? and more importantly, is the food picante ?? this I have never found anywhere in Cuba, even in Havana.. so this could be the answer to my prayers (I also believe an English/Indian guy has opened Havana`s first curry house) - exciting times indeed.

11I've tried a couple in Chinatown, Havana, and know what you mean.
I'll get my fix here, and have several salsas and chipotle sauces to bring for
my Mexican hit

13Tien tan by far is the best chinese restaurant ive been to in cuba. Just the fact that every chinese student / worker in cuba seem to love the place should be proof enough ;).
I highly recommend the 12 dollar sizzling platter with pork (only take the pork, no beef, chicken or fish) with a bowl of white rice on the size. Really tasty and enough food for two, at least if you take a appetizer (then you will roll out of the restaurant, like i usually do). We usually share a 3 dollar noodle soup, which is labeled as "medium" but in reality is large or even bigger than that.. We have never managed to eat up that soup !
