late april weather for a bit of hiking

Hi, I am thinking of going to Georgia from April 21-28. My biggest draw to the area is the scenery so weather is probably the most important factor for me. I would really love to do some hiking (nothing extreme, just some nice day hikes). Is april and ok time for this? I don't mind a bit of rain and chill, but would prefer not to have all day every day of rain and would be really disappointed to miss the mountains. If the weather will be terrible, I'll go to Sicily, but Georgia has captured my imagination!! Thanks so much!
