Getting from Mombasa airport to Diani BeachHi Folks
I am landing at Mombasa airport at 09 PM. I have two questions:
1. How much time do I need to pass all the procedures and get out of the airport???
2. What is the best way to get to Diani Beach and how much does it cost at that time???
Thank you for the reply in advance and greetings

Are you coming in on an International flight? If so do you already have a visa or are you getting one on arrival. Because everyone from an International flight goes straight from the plane to the Immigration Hall, there are usually big queues. The queue for people already having a visa is a lot shorter and quicker than the one for people needing visas but getting through Immigration quicker doesn't mean you won't still be waiting for your bags. I would say on average you will be looking at somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour (can be more ion a bad day) to get through Immigration and collect your bags. Customs at Mombasa will stop more people than their Nairobi counterparts and are often looking for excuses to take 'kito kidogo' (a little something) or 'chai' (a small bribe) so Customs can take longer than at Nairobi.
You can get a taxi from the airport it should cost around 5,000 KES, and at that time take around an hour plus however long it takes to get on the ferry (You cross the causeway onto Mombasa Island then get the Likoni ferry to the South Coast, queues should not be bad at that time of night)
Of course if you are staying at a hotel you could arrange for them to meet you, or if you have the number of a recommended driver you could arrange for them to meet you. Somebody on here might give a personal recommendatio to you. I don't know any South Coast drivers, but I've seen people given recommendation by PM on Tripadvisor.

2PS You can get in the queue for Visa on arrival quicker if you download and complete the form before you go, this is a UK sight but the form is standard for everyone
(Looks like the 'edit' function has disappeared since the site came back)
