Accommodation in Montevideo

Hey,

We are planning on arriving in Montevideo this Friday and staying until next Wednesday. We are looking for budget accommodation in the city- by budget we are really looking for a double room preferably with a private bathroom with a fan for really the cheapest rate that is attainable in Montevideo. We of course want a clean and safe hostel/hotel in a safe area.

I have read Carnaval is on Monday and Tuesday of next week, will that affect accommodations in terms of availability and cost?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ours is the longest carnival, lasts until March

The three parades are over, but you'll see the "tablados" where the troupes offer their shows. And the official competition at Teatro de verano, in Parque Rodó

Hostels are half empty cos not many Argentinean nor European backpackers are visiting due to the crisis.

Thanks for the reply.

Could you recommend an area where we would be likely to find plentiful budget accommodation located closely together?

Thanks.

Thanks again.

Where are these areas in relation to the bus station? We will be arriving into Montevideo from Salto.
