short travel-report about GujaratHello ,
Few weeks back of Gujarat … I want to give you little travel-rapport about , because my experience was before ,you hardly can find much information on internet . We have travelled around Gujarat with the public government bus . I can only recommend this way of travel there because roads are good , it’s cheap and you don’t loose much time with waiting (the max was 30 min) . Gujarat is not touristic at all … we have taken many buses and always we are the only foreigners on it !
Our itinerary was vadadora – champaner-ahmedabad-patan-bhuj-mandvi-dwarka-junagadh –diu. Because lack of time we had to skip many places like chhota-udaipur with his ethnic markets around , Sidhpur with his haveli’s , palanpur ,the little rann , palitana with nearby hill & temples … so we have many reasons to go back once !
In 2,5 weeks we did a nice trip in Gujarat . Maybe I may give you some of the best of our experiences The unesco-site of champaner is worth a visit and you may overnight nearby in Hotel Champaner in Pavagadh ! We enjoy the heritage-walk in & around the polls of ahmedabad . In Patan we found an unexpected new & good hotel Tulsi ! For Bhuj I can only confirm the good things I read about the back-packers City GH . For the region & villages near the border of Pakistan there is a rule that you need a guide … and therefor I may recommend you our guide Kuldip Gadhvi . His trips are a good mix of nature & culture ,and are not commercial at all .So for your “kutch adventures” take contact with him before : his email-adress : email@example.com Mandvi is a little town , near Bhuj where you have to spend at least 1 day because of his shipyard , his market , his beach …and if you are a bird-lover this is the place to be : in the bay around the boats you may observe many like herons , king-fishers ,flamingo’s … Next stop was Dwarka : be there early in the morning at the ghats !!! From there we take the bus to junagadh for our physical test : the steps up to the top of girnar-hill . Then it was time for recup and our choice for Diu was the best we could make ! We stay there in the Hernanca Goesa , a very sympathic address near the St Thomas church-museum . Diu is a little island with many possibilities : port , fort , portuguese churches, shell-museum, the busy fishervillage Vanakbara early in the morning , sandy & rocky beaches ,and also many birds … and for good sea-food we take many meals in o’coqueiro , a lovely restaurant nearby our guesthouse !
So , let’s visit next time Gujarat !
Greetings , Geert
