Driving to Venice from Florence

Driving to Venice from Florence

Hello fellow travellers..

Is it all advisable to drive to Venice if I plan on staying there for 3 days? If i were to drive to Venice, where shoudl I park?

Well, it's really easy to drive from Florence to Venice, 2 hours and a half on comfortable motorways. The best parking options are the car parkings outside Mestre Station, much cheaper than the parking on the island.

Btw I guess you have your own car, otherwise it would be much cheaper taking a direct high speed train from Florence to Venice (cheap tickets if bought in advance)

This and the other two questions you have asked about car hire in Florence all mention doing long distances (to Venice and Amalfi coast). There's no point doing this by car - particularly to Venice as you can't use the car while you're there - these journeys are much easier and quicker by train. A car for travelling round the countryside in Tuscany and so on does make sense, but not the long distance travel
