Lets say its pounds as your profile says UK. That works out at 2500 baht a day. You should be fine on that. Allow between 500 and 1000 for accommodation, 100 per day for motorbike rental and that leaves 1400 - 1900 a day for food and drink. Local meal costs between 30 and 80 baht per person. Try to put aside 300 a day for the occasional splurge and any additional travel plans in country, but you will be fine. There are people on this site who somehow manage to scrape by on a lot less, although god knows what they do all day. Forage for nuts most likely...

How long is a piece of string ? i.e what do you expect for your money. I personally think that yes you can exist in Thailand for 8 weeks on that amount but it won't be a remotely comfortable holiday. I don't stay 5 star but for example, the last beachfront bungalow I had last September is currently THB 3950 per day and it was not particularily special. Evening meals on average were all around THB120 to THB180 per person in numerous restaurants. Add drinks, motor bikes, internal flights, day trips, lunches, shopping etc and it's loads more.
It's all just food for thought, just think about what sort of standards you would like or expect. Obviously everybody is different but without some forethought you could be disappointed and that would be a shame.

Sorry, when I say "it won't be a remotely comfortable holiday." I meant it may not be if you are expecting something else. What I meant to convey is if you prepare yourself by looking at the 500 - 1000 accomodation range then there will be no surprises.

It all depends on what you like to do and the sort of accommodation you prefer ~ that will take the biggest bite out of your funds. That said, 3000 pounds should be enough for a great holiday. You have three months to plan what you want to see and do. Make a general budget, but don't follow it slavishly. Avoid pricey prepaid tours. And let the fun happen!

P.S. Is mom jealous?

I'm gunna ... nice English.

You need more money. Thailand is not cheap.

Thailand IS cheap but some people think it's cheaper than it really is or like to slum it. Depends what the OP wants. I think £3k for 2 people for 8 weeks is possible but £4k minimum would be more ideal.

Always surprises me that people don't work all this out well in advance.

'gotta' and 'gunna' - two of my favourite words in Angrit ;-)

Have you prebooked/paid for any accommodation? I think it's do-able, but since you have £2k and your partner £1k are you going to subsidise their trip by pooling your cash? If so, seems like they're getting a better deal than you!

It all depends on your spending habits. I think it is on the low-end but you can control your spending, leave the kingdom early if you run out of money.

It is enough money for sure, but don't spend all your time in BKK, get out and see the country and it's gets cheaper in small towns.

And beware the additional cost of drinking alcohol. Bottled water is much cheaper.
Travel by train and local bus is fun too in big cities like BKK where traffic can be horrendous or an adventure! JoyV

What is there to see in any of the major tourist destinations for the average holiday maker? Other tourists mostly.
