Delay in posting replies on Thorn Tree - why?
LP Thorn Tree, this is just a question for you, really, because I can't find out how to ask this in any other way. I would have emailed you direct if I could work out how to do that.Currently I'm receiving very helpful replies to my query 'Can UK nationals get valid insurance for Iran?' But I noticed that my replies, and other people's replies, are subject to a delay of several hours before they appear online.
One LP regular - Lordnapier, has apparently posted reply #16 to this thread, but I can't see beyond reply #14 yet. However, one minute later Lordnapier's reply to another post 'Iran Rial collapse Renews, etc' has appeared instantly.
Is this because someone has made a complaint about me or someone else, on my 'Insurance for Iran' post? I think that a lot of people would like more clarity.
Please don't delete this! We need to know.

After the great Thorn Tree shutdown a few weeks ago, things started to return very slowly . Posts were indeed taking several hours to appear, making a nonsense of many threads.I have noticed that my posts are now showing up on the forum immediately. It may be that on the Iran forum things are taking longer. Perhaps someone who posts regularly on the Iran forum can clarify.

One of my own replies took a while to appear after a message flashed up about a moderator needing to approve, or something. But after that, it's true that I overlooked page 2 which contained Lordnapier's reply.I think I'm just getting paranoid. I'd previously hinted at my suspicions that someone is supporting a certain company which has otherwise received a lot of criticism, and that person had also recommended an Iranian insurance company which was suspiciously cheap. I assumed that some kind of 'block' had been put on the 'Can UK nationals get valid insurance for Iran' thread.

I just had a terrible time trying to post a reply on a thread in "Speaking in Tongues". TT kept telling me there was content that was not allowed, although I couldn't see anything that even the most prudish person could object to. No insults, no dirty words, no racist comments. In the end I had to forget the long description and just post a link to a rather silly site that explained what I wanted to say.I wish TT would tell me what was so "objectionable" so I would know for another time.
I wonder if this will go through... ;-)

Another instance of LP 'delaying' my posts. Today, 17 February 2013, I posted:"Oh, deep sigh, I thought I’d finished with my thread about ‘valid travel insurance for UK nationals visiting Iran’ because now I’m gearing up for a trip to Pakistan and I have other worries (recent bomb in Peshawar, etc) – but I couldn’t resist one more view of the ‘Iran’ section.
Every time I’ve posted about this subject on LP Thorn Tree, I’ve had a response from one particular person who is enthusiastic about the services of the group of companies which comprises irantravelinsurance.com, iranianvisa.com and iraniantours.com. Not Gecko56, but someone else – I can’t help wondering if all of these people are in fact the same person! Who knows?
By the way, eventually I chose another Iranian company which has a ‘bricks & mortar’ base in Iran and also Thailand. I’m not going to name this company because I don’t want to be accused of advertising, but if anyone is interested in searching the Trip Advisor archive you’ll find it – on TA I’m known as 7_swans-a-swimming.
I appreciate the fact that on TA people can say what they think without fear of their posts being deleted – we’re all intelligent people and we can work out what is genuine and what is not. So, please, Lonely Planet, don’t delete this post. Thanks, from a 69-year old traveller who just want to know the truth."
Immediately, I got a response from LP (again): "Please note, your topic will need to be approved by a moderator before it will be posted in the forum." I guess it won't be posted. Am I being 'stalked' by one particular company which objects to my opinions? What happened to free speech?

Shuffaluff, exactly my experience. I tried to re-post a long trip report from September 2012, which, in all modesty, I think other readers might find useful. The content did not make it through the new, automatic content filter. If there is a list of banned words and terms then it must be very long - basically everything that you would not be allowed to say in front of a three-year-old child who needs to believe the whole world is a happy place of teddy bears where nothing bad, unpleasant or objectionable happens. I suspect, however, that the filter is more sinister and examines far more aspects than single words and terms. I will probably have to start uploading longer texts ( = larger probability to run afoul of the filter) to other websites and posting hyperlinks on the TT.
