Day trip to Nargakot from Kathmandu?I'll be in Kathmandu in April for just 3 or 4 days and wanted to see the mount everest too, of course. I was thinking of basing myself in Kathmandu and taking a daytrip to Nargakot, since I dont have much time. Is it worth going at that time and are there daytrips available? any advice or ideas anyone? Also, if I wanted to take a scenic flight over the mountains, what would be the best option?
Thanks for your ideas!

2you can always do a mt. everest flight run by several airlines in ktm.
as for day trip to nagarkot clouds permitting you may be able to see everest from there.

4In 2009 we spent two nights at the "The Fort"....you should be able to get a good view of the mts.
since you are going in April...we did Sept...no such luck since it was still Monsoon Season.
You need to be there very early morning.....
We did the same trek at #3.....

5Your best bet of seeing Everest would be on an early morning scenic flight. You may have to wait a couple days if the weather is poor. If you chose to go to Nagarkot, I'd also recommend that you spend the night to have a greater chance of seeing it. You could also hire a taxi to take you their very early in the morning. If you did this, you'd want to make arrangements with a taxi the day before. Agree on a price ahead of time.

6You can get a magnificent view of many mountains in the main Himalayan Range on a clear morning from Nagarkot - but no matter how clear it is, you are not going to see Everest. It is more than 120 km northeast of this viewpoint and it is well hidden in a myriad of closer peaks. Don't believe the advertising that says you can see Everest from there or Damon or Dhulikhel - unless you have Superman's vision!
The Mountain Sightseeing Flight is probably the most expensive 1 hour flight available anywhere - but having said that, you can't beat the view of Everest. Cho Oyo, Shishupangma, Nuptse. Makalu and Kanchenjunga(all 8000m +) and other "smaller" but no less beautiful peaks that you will see. I think the fare is currently about US$ 182. They fly only when it is clear in the Everest area. You will have a window seat and be invited, one at a time, to take a photo through the windscreen of the cockpit.

7stilltrekkin - while it is harder to see mt. Everest from Nagarkot unless it is a crystal clear day - you would be technically wrong to say that one can't see Everest from Nagarkot. one can - it's not a matter of opinion - but a fact. you can't change geography. i have been seeing it all my life. Dhulikhel - yes you would be correct - other mountains block it.
