A round trip from Philadelphia to Alabama RV or Car ?

A round trip from Philadelphia to Alabama RV or Car ?
HelloMy wife and I are travelling to states in March 2013 for a two week trip.
We fly into JFK from there will be visiting friends in Philadelphia and Alabama.
We would like to compare hiring a RV verses a Car / Motels.
If anybody has experienced travelling using the above it would be good to hear the opinions for both options. Ie cost,comfort,adventure fun etc

I haven't been RV'ing since i was a kid in the 1970's.I remember it as a fun way to see nature, not so convenient if most of your destinations are big cities.
It's kind of a pain to have to break camp and put every little thing away just so you can go to the store and buy a loaf of bread, so one's shopping and eating habits must be adjusted accordingly.
That is balanced by the fact that checking into a motel, (moving your luggage in etc.), the time it takes to find a restaurant, wait for the bill etc., are no longer a factors.
