Monsoon - summer and winter

Hi all

Can anyone tell me which countries in Asia are affected by the Summer Monsoon (April-October) and which are spared until the Winter. I'm planning a trip from May-September and want to avoid the downpours as much as possible! Flexible on locations but preferred places are Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia ...

Thanks for any advice you can give x

Generally speaking, north of the equator, the summer monsoon April to October rains on the west side of islands and land masses.

Both monsoons affect Thailand. The summer monsoon brings strong storms and heavy rains that come in from the southwest and affect most of the country. That's when there are frequent floods. The winter monsoon brings cool dry winds from the northeast. That's the season when there are frequent droughts that impact farmers.

The souther islands have a slightly different timing with the seasons shifted a bit.
