Spain- South to North
hi, i'm thinking of flying into madrid (cheapest), train to valencia, cycle south along the coast and head north at some point to granada to pick up the via de la plata to santiago de compostela....has anybody done this route or something like it? and any info on winds? today they are all from the north....is that normal ;)-....any info you have would be appreciated! or drop me a line if you're interested in a cycling companion! thanx! matt in so cal email-receptivo007@yahoo.com1
You don't say when you're plannng this trip. Now, in southern Andalucia, it's quite cold at night and in the morning (5degC this morning) but warm and sunny during the day; inland up on the mesa it will be colder. You might consider train / bus to Seville or Cadiz and riding the Camino de la Plata north from Seville. Note that you cannot normally take bikes on the fast inter-city trains - try socibus.es for bus travel. There are plenty of good rides in Andalucia at this time of year. Winds are often northerly this time of year due to the Azores high. Enjoy the ride.
