Family Friendly Guest House in Th Si Ayuthaya / Thewet, Bangkok

Hi there!

Will be returning to Bangkok for the first time in 18 years, this time with my wife and 3 year old son. Looking for a 'comfortable' backpacker guesthouse or low-cost hotel suitable for a family, most probably in the Thewet / Thanon Si Ayuthaya area. Small garden or courtyard would be lovely,if possible (not sure if that's how it works in Bangkok these days?). Happy to pay a bit more for comfort, but not looking for anything too fancy.

I have done my research... but you know how it is, prices and quality change all the time, so any up to date recommendations (and estimates of room fees) from this highly-informed online community would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Martin

Hi Martin,

Have you tried searching for a place on AirBnb.com?

Maybe you ought to also include your price range for your hotel and someone will come up with a few suggestions. It has been 18 years since your last visit. I imagine you have a little more money now and won't need to share toilets and showers with total strangers this time - especially since you have the little boy with you.

Since your last visit Bangkok has city rail service now. Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi. This rail service connects with the Skytrain and subway. The Skytrain opens up many locations in Bangkok for economical hotel choices. Subway brings you to Hulalamphong Train Station. A hotel location where you can use the city rail service could be helpful.

When will you be in Bangkok? Low season you have more choices and better prices.

Pratunam area. Walk from Ratchaprorop Rail Link Station.
Makkasan Inn and P.R. Place.

On Sukhumvit not far from On Nut Skytrain stop, near Lotus Tesco. Imm Fusion.

You will get more help when you mention your price range.

Shanti Lodge is still running in Thewet, seems like a pleasant enough budget type of place.
