Mandalay or Lashio to go to Kyaukme?

Mandalay or Lashio to go to Kyaukme?
I am going trekking in Kyaukme. I can either fly in to Mandalay and take the train from Pyin oo Lwin. Or fly to Lashio and take the bus/train from there. Any recommendations?My return trip will be train from Kyaukme to Mandalay.

Buses also run directly to Kyaukme from Mandalay.The train is slower, but apparently a nice journey.
I wouldn't take internal flights as you miss much of the 'Burma experience', but that's just my opinion.
