1Thankyou for the replies
We are staying with friends in mwanza
arriving in Tanzania at Dar es salaam and then flying to Mwanza(looking at flying fastjet if my friend can pay in Tanzania)
I thought if we did a safari from Mwanza to Arusha it would then be easier for us to get to the coast using buses/coaches where we will be staying for the last part of our stay.
we have had a couple of quotes for 4 night /5 day safaris(one company suggested camping was not a good idea as we are going at the end of march/early april so it will be wet.)
would we be missing out if we didn't go into the ngorongoro crater one quote suggests going to serengeti,Ngorongoro conservation area and Lake Manyara via Karatu town and tarangire but doesn't mention the crater

I did a similar trip a few years ago, starting in Mwanza going through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro and ending up in Arusha. There are tour operators in Mwanza you can talk to when you arrive. If you are staying with friends I would recommend perhaps not booking in advance but trying to sort it out on the ground, often easier imho.
