Is Mongolian Steppe an okay hostel to spend one night? One major complaint they have received from reviewers on hostelbookers is that there is only one toilet for everybody!! Is it a big hostel and is having only one toilet a major issue?

Hi
Most budget hostels in UB are not EU standard hostels.
These are 3-4 room apartments in old apartment buildings, turned into double bunker hostels, accommodating up to 20 people, based on typical facilities designed for local households.

Lower exceptions and all will be fine.
Get up early or late to avoid the morning rush. Enjoy the cheap price.
Some tourists opt to spend UB nights at a $70-$100 hotel with private toilets and showers.

Expect many other issues, like water shortage, electricity outage, pavements with open potholes, paved roads that end a few km out of the city, difficulty crossing Peace road, traffic jams that will make you sit in a taxi for one hour on a 3km stretch.

Make sure you adjust your expectations, and enjoy what the country does have to offer. Enjoy wide open endless empty countryside, experience the nomadic way of life, visit happy proud country people, ride horses, take photos of deserts, lakes and mountains.
