The Black Forest HoneymoonHi...
I'm thinking of taking my wife to be to the Black Forest for our honeymoon but all I know is that it's beautiful. I don't know where to stay or go. I'd like some sort of guest house or b+b but I'm finding it hard.
Can anyone give me some ideas or websites to look at?
Thanks in Advance!!!

1The official website is http://www.schwarzwald-tourismus.info . A couple of other useful websites: http://www.tourismus-bw.de and http://www.schloesser-magazin.de/en . All of these websites can be changed to English somewhere on the page. The best source for accommodations is the websites of the towns and villages. They take the form of www.PLACENAME.de, just enter the actual place name, preferably using its German spelling. Many, but not all, may allow you to convert the website to English. Otherwise, use the translation tool of your web browser.

4There are plenty of alternatives in the Black Forest for a romantic stay.
For some specific advice it would be good to know the time of year you want to travel, your mobility (car or train) an also your budget.
Just as a first idea, look at Hotel "Obere Linde" in Oberkirch. Half-timber building complex from c17, good food. Oberkirch is a lively small town, which is not touristically spoiled.

5I would say that we should probably hire a car just for ease. Also we will probably fly into Stutgart or whatever airport goes from Dublin... Our budget wouldn't be massive but we'd just like to see a little. Maybe hire a couple of bikes for a few days and take it easy...
Have you been there? Did you enjoy it?
Thanks so much.

there is the northern part and the southern part of the Black Forest. The southern part is more famous, but the northern part is also very beautiful. Right now, there is the discussion, if the area there is going to be declared as National Park. If you two love nature, forests and hiking, you will love the area.
The airport in the northern part of the black forest is in Karlsruhe (FKB). There is a beautiful road, called “Schwarzwaldhochstraße” which starts in Baden-Baden, where the northern airport is. More information about the road:
I would recommend you to rent a car at the airport in Karlsruhe and drive along the “Schwarzwaldhochstraße” to the beautiful hotel “Berghotel Mummelsee”. (40 km) The hotel is located next to the lake “Mummelsee”.
There are really nice packages you can book, for example including sparkling wine, breakfast in the room, massage or beauty treatment, 4 course meal, etc.
The lake “Mummelsee” is a nice place to depart to hiking tours:
Further hotels along the „Schwarzwaldhochstraße“, I can recommend:
- Döttelbacher Mühle, Bad Peterstal-Griesbach (http://www.doettelbacher-muehle.de/ueber-uns.html) (My parents stayed there and they really liked it, they booked a special offer via ebay.)
- Zuflucht Natur- und Sporthotel, Bad Peterstal-Griesbach (http://www.hotel-zuflucht.de/index.html)
In the south, there is the famous mountain “Feldberg”. There are also many nice hiking tracks: http://www.blackforesthighlands.info/
A hotel, my parents stayed at in the south of the Black Forest is the Best Western Hotel Hofgut Sternen, Breitnau/Hinterzarten:
I recommend you to visit the Black Forest, when there are no public school holidays in Germany, because the black forest is a famous destination for families and it could be a little bit crowded.
I really hope, I could help you with this information. :) If you have any more questions, I will help you with a pleasure!

7Good recommendations in #4.
@ ardirev: Ive been to Obere Linde several times for dinner - always a pleasant experience. I have seen their rooms when booking for others, but have never slept there (do have private accomodation with family there).
It makes a difference which time of year you want to travel, spring starts 6 weeks earlier at the foot of the Black Forest than at the heights. However, in summer the hights are recommended for their more pleasant climate, in can become quite damp in the Rhine valley.
