Ethanre, this may be one of those questions that would make the eyes of locals roll as the gringo asks it. Of course, if you are a small child it may well be possible. It would be at least as much fun as riding a goat.

Llamas and alpacas can't support more than about 50 lbs. Donkeys are used by locals out in the campo for carrying heavy loads and occasionally tourists.

Awesome question! If I buy a donkey to carry all my stuff, can I take it on the inca trail? Or national parks?

If I disguise myself as a donkey, do I still have to pay an entry fee to the Inca Trail or is it free?

I believe that a full grown llama can carry about 90 pounds, still not enough for an adult person.
Wikipedia says 25% to 30% of their weight.
