Flight waiting lists

Hello folks,

can't wait to get to Myanmar. I'll be there in a couple of weeks.

does anyone have any experience of being put on internal flight waiting lists?

There's two of us and we're trying to get from yangon to bagan in the 3rd week of february.

the local travel agent doesn't sound too phased by it... but I'm just wondering if being on a waiting list ever turns into an actual ticket....

thanks very much

Kim

I wouldn't worry, i'm sure you will make it on the flight.but if you don't the bus will get you there. It's now a smooth 10 hour ride on the new highway.

Yes , it is normal . You should make sure within 3 days of your departure date . In first and second week of Feb have a problem for flight and hotel bookings as well because of Chinese New year .

At least , as in above , you can take overnight bus . It would save one night hotel charge and more cheaper than flight . But , have to take long drive .

Good Luck !

Radiant Tours & Travel often recommended here were the only ones who were willing to put us on waitlists. You should do this now for best chances. We were on waitlists for 2 flights (3 seats) and were able to get one one of them in the end.

I don't know that I would recommend "not to worry". If you definitely don't want to take the bus and the flights are sold out, you may not get on and need to adjust your itinerary.

I think we have to keep in mind that some people are just not overnight bus travelers.

I just flew from Yangon to Bagan. I booked the ticket two days before the flight and was able to get a seat, no problem. There were about 70 seats on the flight and I would say that there were 10 empty seats, as I was in the back and there were several empty rows behind me. I posted a pretty thorough summary of my recent trip on the forum, it might be useful. Cheers!

Their travel agent already has them on waiting lists, which means the flights they want are currently sold out.

Flight seats are not generally confirmed until 14 days before flights and tickets are not issued until 72 days before your first flight so you will be on a "wait" list. I have just returned and the mad busy season is well and truly over and there were empty seats on all my five sectors.
