Entebbe to Kampala road (Equator sign?)Where is the equator sign? Is it on the road from the airport to Kampala?
Also, I will be in Entebbe on a 13 hour stopover from 12pm to 1am the next day. Would it be possible to hire a taxi for a few hours to take me to Kampala and back (just to see it) and also the equator line sign?
Also, I'm a US passport holder. From the state dept site, it says it's possible to get a visa upon arrival at Entebbe airport. Any Americans out there who recently got a visa upon arrival at Entebbe airport? Was it easy and straightforward?

1the equator runs south of entebbe/kampala, their are two signs, one near masaka and one near the entrance to queen elizabeth national park. Masaka is accessible in your time limit, but it would be a long and frustrating drive out there through kampala to get there and back, maybe 2-5 hours each way depending on traffic in kampala which is nearly always awful.
you can get a visa on arrival for USD50.
If i were you i would just head to Entebbe and relax on Sports beach and watch the planes come and land over your head
you can easily get a taxi to kampala for about $30 one way, its between 45 minutes and 3 hours depending on traffic

2If you are interested in seeing the Equator Sign, don't worry. There is an equator sign in Lake Victoria just 5 minutes boat ride off the main Land. You can get a canoe or a speed boat from Water front or Uganda Wildlife Education Center and it will take you to that Island which has the equator sign. You dont have to look for it along Mbarara-Masaka road if you will be coming to Entebbe.

6Thanks! I think I'll start with the Uganda Wildlife Education Center first and go from there. I go to Uganda in March and will let you know what happens.

11thanks everyone! Upon arrival in Entebbe, I was too tired and just wanted to sleep so I slept at Airport Guesthouse, as recommended by LP.
After my nap, I asked about the entebbe equator sign but the receptionist didn't know about it, so I ended up just hiring a car from the guesthouse to take me around Kampala.

12Would have been about 2 hours by taxi each way and to be honest it is not the most exciting place in the world but I do understand why you might have wished to visit. Also if you had come back in the dark from the equator is is not the most pleasant of journeys as there are so many trucks roaring up and down the road
