Visa Run. Phuket or Ranong?

Hi,
We need to do a visa run into Myanmar to get a couple more weeks in Thailand. Currently, what is the easiest way to do this? from Phuket, Ranong? Having trouble searching the answer.
Thanks

If you do Ranong it is 15 days.

I'll be down around Phuket about when the visa runs out. 15 days is all I need.

If you are in Phuket I think the visa run to Ranong, ferry to Kawthaung, Myanmar will be quicker - a day trip.
It's a heck of a drive down to Penang (closest Thai embassy, I think).

Ranong would be the easiest option if you only need 15 days.

If you want to do something a little different. Take the bus from Phuket to Satun. Then the ferry across to Lankawi in Malaysia. You can go in the morning from Satun and come back in the afternoon. The cable car on Langkawi is awe inspiring. You will see a lot of new and interesting country, have a sea voyage (about 1hour) and get your 15 day visa.

1. Phuket town to Ranong 300km
2. Phuket town to Satun 433km
3. Phuket town to Sadao 496km

Only #1 is doable in one day, and it's a long one. The visa run process is fairly complicated. Stamp out at Ranong immigration, continue by road to the pier, get a longtail across the wide (5km) estuary, stop at stilt-hut checkpoints both sides, stamp in/out in Kawthawng, then back in reverse. If it's low tide you might have to walk through knee-deep mud to/from the boat. Four+ hours each way in the van too. Yee haw.

many thanks to all responders. We need the extra two weeks to visit Lanta and the Trang Islands. So, it seems like going from and back to Phuket is best. Has anyone used the visa services that are offered from Phuket? I know that the Adaman Club offers one, but it involves a casino. YUCK!

You don,t need to go to the casino. Just stay at the jetty and get the return boat.

PHUKET is in Thailand not for visa runs, but immigration does the normal things.
