The single most infuriating question on this branch is.....I'm travelling to Thailand (Lao, Cambodia, insert your country of choice here), can you suggest me the best itinerary
This question really gets up *my goat*! If the OPs can not be bothered to do simple research and are asking such banal question, I won't bother to answer. They made the effort to register and post on this branch, but can not be bothered to do simple Google searches.
To the regulars on here, are there any other questions that really, really annoy you? Let's have them......

2Is there anybody in Bangkok at the moment?
What's the weather like on koh Samui on the 12/10/13?

3I dislike the travelling partner requests like "anyone around at this time give me a shout".
What sort of people advertise for complete strangers to go travelling with. If you don't want to go alone then take a friend / relative or someone you know with you. It's obvious that the last thing these people are going to be is sensible and I feel like screaming STAY AT HOME !
I've been in Sri Lanka since the beginning of January and in the meantime the regulars seem to have disappeared, what happened ? did I miss a mega altercation ?

4#2 I might be wrong but under the new system it seems to be heavily censored and it's restricted debate to a minimum .
Like if someone asks a question like me about directions to the tiger temple and that's all I wanted the anti temple brigade get on and the thread gets deleted.
Maybe the old posters miss the old debates and are sick of answering the same old questions albeit newbies doing their first bit of reseach..

6This one is hands down for me:
"I'm a (18/19/20-something) female traveling on my own and looking for a companion."
Or really any variation thereon. Even I recognize the snarkiness in my replies to those questions, although I try to filter it out as much as possible.
How does this ever make sense to anyone? Would it seem smart to stand up in a bar and announce "I'm young and pretty, who wants to head off somewhere alone with me? Don't worry, none of my friends or family will be anywhere nearby!" I mean, I get that we're generally nice folks on this forum, but young women advertising for strangers to accompany them via the internet just seems to lack all common sense. (I agree with friendly_checkingirl, in it's a bad idea to advertise for a travel companion, it's just the female part adds a different degree of danger. As a guy, my worst likely risk is having the awkward buddy-breakup conversation.)

9Thanks for the replies folks!
For the record, I usually just don't answer these generic posts unless other contributors chime in first AND if there's anything worthwhile to add, I will.
This branch has great contributors with vast travelling experiences and it's such a shame to have to waste our time on questions that could be easily answered using a search engine. Yes, we are here of our own volition and we want to help but pleeeeease make a bit of an effort first before asking . I mean - did you even read the FAQ first???
Oh, and we are NOT a travel agent.
I hope newbies read this thread and take a long and considered approach before asking silly generic questions. Give us something challenging to answer.
Happy travels everyone!
