Where to get an India tourist visa while abroad
Hello!I am a US citizen currently traveling for a year. I'm interested in going to India, but having a difficult time figuring out what countries allow non-citizens to apply for Indian visas. I've read that in Singapore and Malaysia you cannot apply if you are not a resident of those countries - can you still do so elsewhere?
Many thanks!

It's possible in Thailand and Laos. I've also gotten one in Indonesia, but that was some years ago and the embassy in Jakarta might be tougher these days.India has been changing its visa application procedures rather frequently over the past year or so. It would be no disadvantage to you to make standard inquiries wherever you are.
The visa's validity might start on the day you get it, so keep this in mind. You don't want to get a visa too far in advance of when you plan on going there.

No experience but there are lots of reports on here - or were before the shut down. The search facility does not seem to work yet but if you scroll down there is a thread with a walk-through of the process.Nepal SBI is the official outsourced agency.
