Indian Student Visa- to travel or not to travel?

Hello all,

I am currently studying at the University of Hyderabad in Andra Pradesh for five months on a multiple entry 6 month student visa.

I registered with the FRRO and our school semester and bonafide enrollment expires May 5.

My visa does not expire until June 3rd...

Does anyone know if I can travel while I am not studying and leave the country scott-free??

Strange question. Of course you can travel man.You have visa 'till 5th of May, you should leave the country before midnight 5th of May (flight must be before midnight). Period.

The only complication to travelling on a student visa is that you are not entitled to access the tourist quota on the trains. As you will probably be wanting to head off just as the semester break starts when demand will be at its peak I can only suggest you book well ahead. Oh and do head for the hills. May/June is crushingly hot.

From what I understand, it is not allowed. However, "research" probably is a good excuse, if asked.

On another note that you mentioned. The FRO/FRRO tells you that you must "check out" when leaving. From my friend's experience last week (on an employment visa), no one cares when you leave.
