Uk citizen getting visa in BrusselsHi
I am planning on visiting Belarus for a week in April. I am from the UK but study in Sweden so getting a visa in Stockholm is not possible at the moment due to the problems between Sweden and Belarus. However, I will be going to Brussels in March so will it be possible to get a visa from the Belarusian embassy there?
If it is will I still pay the same price for the visa for UK citizens or will I get charged the lower amount as advertised on the Brussels embassy site?

1Technically you can apply anywhere in the world in person or even mail your passport to Belarus Embassy in Tokyo or back in London - there are no geographical limits. The only limit is that being a UK passport holder you are not eligible to apply for a tourist visa upon landing at MSQ Airport (although a UK citizen has to be quite desperate to apply for a 243 dollar visa instead of a 75-quid one).
If you have time and don't need your passport every day just DHL it to London. And you do have the invitation and everything?

2Thanks for the reply - I just feel a bit uncomfortable sending my passport away, but maybe the London option is the best. I guess they are one of the busier embassies so are used to giving the visas too. Don't have the invitation yet, only made the decision to go last night!

3Well many applicants mail it over and if the carrier is reliable I have never seen anyone losing his passport like that) If you have a friend in Belarus you can apply without invitations and if you book a hotel some embassies will give a 10-day visa if you present the booking confirmation.

7Cool well I have sent an email to the embassy in London as on their website it seems that a hotel booking should be all I need as a UK citizen just going for a week. I have a Belarusian friend who studies with me and she is visiting home next week so maybe she can book me in and make sure the manager signs everything correctly!
Thank you so much for all your help so far, its very kind.

8With a Belarusian friend this becomes even easier - you can fill in the visa application saying you are visiting her - that is if she doesn't mind (like thousands of travelers do coming to Belarus to visit their friends) and NO papers will be required. Moreover, you can stay either at a hotel or at a private apartment - the difference with the hotel being they automatically register you.

13So I have finally sent off my application to my Brother in London to go to the embassy - However, I have put under question 32 (Health insurance) NHS (UK citizen) on account of the bilateral agreement. Will this be ok or should I post another form where I say I will buy insurance at the border?
