Visiting Gorillas in December
I am considering visiting the gorillas in Uganda in December and have concerns about December being on the back end of the November rain season. Does any one have experience and opinions on visiting Uganda and the gorillas in December, and if visiting in early December is a bad idea.Thanks.

hey cougarit can rain at any time in Bwindi forest, its hard to legislate against it really, i would always so to sooner plan a trip around when is best for you rather than around when you think the rains might come.
The dry season is traditionally january - march and then june - september, though last season it started raining in february and never really stopped in Kampala, and right now its been raining for 2 days, so you just dont know!
One upshot of december is that the air will not be as hazy and therefore views on clear mornings and evenings will be stunning. I actually put this far beyond the gorillas as an experience. If it is wet, the gorillas usually just sit still and hunker down, your actual view of them us USUALLY no less hindered than it normally is in the thick forest. Dont think the canopy will shelter you though, you'll get an absolute pummeling if it rains.

Hi,I was in november/december 2012 in Uganda. I didn't had too many rains and when it started raining it was mostly in the afternoon.
So, plan all your activities in the morning or early afternoon and you'll be fine. Use the rest of the day to chill out.
I went for gorilla's on 2nd december in Bwindi and we had no rain at all. The advantage of november/december is the lack of crowds. Everywhere I went I saw just a small amount of tourists. I don't like to walk in herds of tourists, so for me it worked out well.
I enjoyed it very much.

The month of December in Bwindi usually experience little rains but since its in forest you expect rain in that area any time, i would advice to continue with your plan to visit Gorrila's and remember to carry warm clothes, boots and raincoat.Wish you safe trip to Uganda mountain gorrila's
