Lake District in February..

Hi all,

I have just joined this forum and I am looking for help and assistance in regard to the 'Lake District' in February. My boyfriend and I will be visiting this area but only plan on spending 2/3 days here. We are getting the train from london but need help on where the best place is to stay in order to max our experience. We hope to do walking and sporting activities... (where is the best place to go at this time of year?)

Advice on location of where to stay would also be much appreciated and where there is a small country feel to it with good atmosphere and cosy fires!!!!! At a reasonable price too!!!! :)

Much appreciated,
Eve83.

On the basis you would arrive at Windermere station one suggestion would be to pick up the hourly Keswick bus (555) to either Ambleside (town) or Grasmere (village). I personally prefer the latter. Plenty of walking choices for different levels of competence.

Grasmere YH is warm, comfortable and friendly with generally an option to have your own room. Decent meals if you do not wish to cook your own.

I'd go for Grasmere too. http://www.transportdirect.com can help you figure out the logistics.
