landing in Pristina and flying out of Thessanoliki 10 days later, my first time to albania but not to the other countries around so...prizren 1 night
durres 2 nights
Tirana 2 nights
Berat 1 night
bitola 2 nights (friends here)
thessanolinki 2 nights
questions
1)Recommendations for pensions in those cities? I could do a hostel in one city or two cities, will probably couchsurf 1-2 nights and the rest I would like something like 20euro/night that is decent and clean and safe close to the center.
2)How long of a bus ride is berat to bitola? would be better to stay in elbasan?
3)I will be in Albania at easter, I think in Durres or Tirana. Any suggestions for a good church to see some Easter celebrations?
4)I want to take photographs of old buildings that look charming in the right light. I thought Berat and Fier would be the right places. What do you think?

What month? I'd skip Durres in favour of more time in Berat or a trip to Gjirokastra.Easter is only really celebrated in the north of the country where most of the catholics are concentrated around Shkodra. Would be a good time to see local traditional dress, just head for the cathedral. You can do it as a daytrip from Tirana. Else, Tirana has a RC church along Rruga e Kavajes. Lots of orthodox believers too, who have easter on another date.
Fier has no old buildings to speak of... Berat, Gjirokastra, Korca and Kruja all have plenty of nice old buildings.

You need furgon from Berat to Elbasan ( around 4 hrs) there change for bus to Skopje/Tetovo via Struga/Ohrid, and at Struga/Ohrid bus to Bitola. All in all you are looking about 9 hrs bus ride with two changes.
But to get to Ohrid and not spend atleast a day is a shame. Ohrid is UNESCO WHS.
Buses to Bitola plenty from Ohris, first is at 6:00am
Note: from Bitola crossing to Florina in Greece there is no public transport.
Ask your friends to drop you off alternately local taxi, price is €27 to drop you off at the bus station.
First bus to Thessaloniki is at 07:10 am cost €15.50 takes 3 hrs. NOTE Greece is +1 hrs than CET .
From Intercity bus station take bus # 78 or N78 to the airport, cost €1.60 compared with taxi €18.. Both take about one hour to get to the airport.

is it worth it to get down to berat? I can be happy with other small towns that have less obvious charms. ;) Unfortunately this trip isn't about montenegro or bosnia and i'm focusing on about half the trip in albania.
