Just letting travellers know that Queensland and (now) New South Wales has just been HAMMERED by major flooding with roads being flooded. Areas of Bunderburg/ north qld are in a state of emergency and 140 km/h winds are forecast of Sydney.Expect delays for next few days. Please stay away from beaches as there are dangerous conditions.

I would add, unless you need to travel by road between North Queensland and Sydney, stay where you are until the weather clears. Also, if you have fights booked, check with the airline, as some airports have had to close.4
Both major highways between Newcastle and Queensland have been cut so if you are planning to drive to Qld today you will have a long wait.At least, where we are, for now it's stopped raining.

We have a snow storm coming down on us!

Update:Brisbane river is now reaching it's peak, so flooding is at the max.
Bundaberg is a MESS, only the news crews are left yammering about people's suffering.
SES has done an excellent job of getting people out.
call 13 19 40 for road conditions in Qld
Sydney flights are opening up again, now that the worste of weather is gone.
Wow, that was a massive storm for everyone on the East coast !

Pacific Hwy still blocked between Ballina and Grafton. New England seems OK but Bruxner blocked between Tenterfield and Casino and the Gwydir is blocked between GI and Grafton and likely to remain so for some times (landslides)I poured 270mm out of the rain gauge on Sunday morning, but it has been overflowing and I suspect that the true figure was well over 300 for the 24 hours.- well over 600mm since Friday.

Groo, I keep hearing things about power and water around Uki. Are you OK?After my NewYear's Eve trip to Port Macquarie, I downloaded the Live traffic app to my smartphone. Very useful.
Bruxner Highway was cut just south of Lismore this morning.
