Kenya 2006/2007 trip report - independently using public transport
Within December 2006/January 2007 we have been to Kenya, travelling independently and getting around by public transport. Our route included Kakamega forest, Lake Bogoria NP, Lake Nakuru NP, Naivasha lake (also visiting the Hell's Gate NP and Crater Lake), Mt. Kenya NP trek (Chogoria up, Sirimon down), Watamu (also visiting Gede ruins, Mida Creek, and Arabuko-Sokoke NP), Mombasa, and Nairobi. When preparing the trip I also used information gathered at this site and all around the internet - to repay this help I have put a very detailed report on our experience for others to use on the internet - if interested check it out at. my site .
Now when the BBC administrators of this site decided to kill all the knowledge base gathered here by many well-meaning travellers (what a shame!), I believe it may be good to offer this link here again.
Happy travels to everyone.
PS: I would appreciate if the administrator of this site could leave this post here in the Kenya section, where it belongs, and not to move it to the general Africa branch or even delete it. This post is strictly non-commercial and can give other travellers and idea about independent trekking in Kenya - I believe there is nor reason to delete this post even if it is linking to other site (also non-commercial). I have not encountered the same problem with my other post linking to the same site in other branches of this forum. Please consider that after deleting (or blocking access) to nearly all information provided free of charge by many well-meaning people, you could leave here at least something for newcomers to find. Thanks.
, where it is difficult to find for readers interested particularly in travelling through Ghana (especially considering that the search option is still not functioning). Thanks.

Hi orion_mike. Sure, the things you have mentioned become obsolete very fast but those do not represent main parts of my report. In fact, I tried to make the main part of my report concentrating on general characteristics of the places visited. Also, I believe that it may be of interests for some people to know that it is no problem to backpack Kenya without safari company - our experience may be an inspiration regarding what can be done. I am still getting some feedbacks from people who found my very old report inspiring - but I fully agree that the logistics details are not of much use now .
