currency preference Nepal

Hi I was in Nepal two years ago and there seemed to be a preferance for the US$ to change to Rupees.
As we are Aussies ,and given the current exchange rates is it now ok to just take the Aus$ to money changers, and still get a good rate?
I will have the usual cards and some US$ for visa's.
Cheers

Banks and moneychangers accept the AUD, you will have no difficulty. No need to incur two lots of exchange costs.

I do not think it is possible to gain anything by doing two exchanges when we are dealing on an open market. Moneychangers post their rates and do not care what currency is coming in, so there is no "preference".
