1Hi! I'm a Canadian in Uganda at the moment, and it was easy to get a visa on arrival at the airport. I'm also going to Rwanda, and got a lot of contradictory information about obtaining a visa. From what I understand, (and I'm by no means sure this is correct), it seems you need to fill out an online visa form and present the documentation at the border to get your visa. I couldn't get the form to download, and read that there can be issues with getting a reply from Rwandan officials if there's a problem with the form. So... I decided to get the visa in Kampala. It took 2 days, and was also cheaper than the price listed on the Rwandan visa website (it said $50, and I paid 77,000 Ugandan shillings, which is about $20 cheaper).
I can't help with Kenya as I'm not going there.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

2Since you are living in UK why not contact the relevant High Commissions for all three countries directly. Then you should really know. Visas on arrival for Kenya and Uganda are regular events - however I seem to recall something about letter of invitation for Rwanda. But since they are now a Commonwealth country it should not be too much of an issue.

3Entry visa acceptance is required to enter Rwanda. You need to start applying a month in advance on https://www.migration.gov.rw/singleform.php. Sometimes they send it in the next day, on other occasions much later. I applied twice, because I assumed that the city, where you cross the border makes a difference, but it turned out it doesn't. The approximate date of entry, on the other hand, needs to be quite precise, since you can only obtain a visa for one month counting from that date. I personally found out about it when I mistakenly put 'Dec' instead of 'Nov' in one of my acceptance forms. If it wasn't for that other form, with the other border crossing, they would have sent me away empty-handed.

4absolutely 100% need a visa in advance for Rwanda for Canadian passport holders.
You apply online and are given an acceptance letter and a number. Take both to the border and pay your money however much it is these days
