Clueless about JapanI will be heading to Japan from 1st - 10th April.
My main aim:
1) see cherry blossoms n take pretty photos
2) onsen ryokan stay (either Hakone / Izu )
3) eat ramen, sashimi etc
Primarily I will be based in Tokyo
However, people are suggesting side trips to Kyoto, Yokohama etc
And yet, there are ppl who feel that Kyoto can be skipped as Tokyo is gd enough... Hmm~
I m getting a lil confused hearing fr them.
So thought of getting myself (either more confused or enlightened! Haaa~ by asking if any kind souls has any suggested itinerary on how I shd travel?
Thanks so much if YOU can help! :)

2What time do your flights arrive and depart?
What are your interests?
I would probably split time between Tokyo and Kyoto.
I would do Tokyo first then see Kyoto towards the end of your time to improve cherry blossoms in Kyoto.
While based in Kyoto you could do side trips to places like Yoshino, Nara, Hikone Castle, Koyasan, Osaka. Although you still have to allocate some time to actually see Kyoto so I wouldn't do all of those side trips. Depends on your interests. Osaka can be skipped for many people.
Cherry Blossom information:-
If instead you prefer to just stay around Tokyo then you can do some easy side trips to places like Nikko, Kamakura, Hakone, Kawaguchiko, Yokohama, etc.

4Wow, lots of spam on this board today....
I'd suggest spending your ten days in Tokyo, with optional day trips to Yokohama and Kamakura. (Kamakura is a good, close-by substitute for Kyoto if you're short on time, where you can see some nice temples and other traditional sites.)
Two days in Hakone out of a 10-day trip is just ridiculous; it's hard to trust anything else they recommend.
