van and driver in rio

Ah, my Thorn tree, it is good to have ye back!

Headed to Brazil in a few months and will spend some time in Rio....a group of 5. Does anyone have a suggestion for a small van and a drive that might be hired locally? We do this regularly in Sao Paolo and love the convenience.....any suggestions would help...thanks...homesteader

Sorry I can't help you out, but would love to hear about the car and driver you hire in Sao Paulo. I'm here for work for 4 months and would love the option of having a driver to the beach or hiking or something for the weekend. Is this possible? What are the costs? Sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread! :o)

I don't know any tourist tour company personally, so I asked for Google's help. I searched for “transporte executivo rj”, “aluguel de vans rj, “turismo tour rj”, “turismo receptivo rj” and millions of options have come. Price depends on the type of car, place to go, if it includes lunch or not, if it is during the day or night, if includes shows at night, bilingual driver, and so on. I found prices from R$165.00 to U$168.00 ( R$ 336.00) per person . Five person means R$ 825.00 to R$ 1680.00. I would consider renting a car instead. Much more cheaper and you can go at your own pace. Or maybe you can come to a deal and put the prices down. I listed some of them below:
www.stradario.com.br, www.welcome2rio.com.br, www.tourguiderio.com.br, www.citydiscovery.com.br, www.lairatours.com.br, www.rio40graus.com.br, www.vipsriotour.com.br, etc.
Shanilynn – change “rj” by “sp” on Google search.

Thanks. I will check some of them out.

When in SP my cousin, who lives there, handles the details. It is great to have the van and driver as we often travel with friends and like to have the room to accommodate the Brazilian family members. It is the merry pranksters bus...I will work on it...homesteader
