Day tours around Dakar
Hi all,I am accompanying my husband next week to Senegal and The Gambia as he has some business there. We have 4 night (3days) in Dakar and I am trying to work out best way to see as much as possible without it costing a fortune. We will spend 1/2 day together in Ille de Goree, otherwise I was planning to spend a morning/day sightseeing by myself walking all around Dakar (Museum and markets). Is this easy to do with a guide book and safe to do with a good camera? Other options I am interested in are Lac Rose, Cayer to watch the fishing boats come in, Joal Fadiouth looks interesting as does Mbour. Anyone know if the turtle sanctuary at Sangalkam or town of Rufisque are 'must see' places. Have I missed somewhere I should visit? Could I squeeze most of this in in 3 days? If so anyone know a good tour company as I think a private driver/guide is beyond my budget?
We then head to St Louis for the weekend. Is Thies worth a stop on the way up? We would need to choose between a trip between Parc National de la Langue de Barbarie or Parc National des Oiseaux. Any suggestions on which is better and recommendations for a tour that would go on Sunday to either of these?
We then head to Gambia for 4 days, would Kaolack be a nice place to stop eihter on our way south or our return to Dakar? I read about the stone circles near here, we are visiting the ones in Wassu in Gambia so could these be missed? We were thinking on our return trip north to stay in Toubacourta for our last night. Is this a place any of you would recommend for a final night or shouldwe continue and stay on the Cote Petit?
Also we are still not sure if we are self driving or getting a driver. Any recommendations?
I know lots of questions but I just decided today to go so think I have swamped myself with internet info!
Thanks

Fadiout and Mbour are a whole day trip, you will have to rent a car to do all of it. Whether or not it costs an arm and a leg depends upon your budget, but possibly around $200 for car, driver, and fuel. The tortoise village is ok. worth an hour or two, and should be combined with a trip to Lac Rose
Visit the HLM fabric market if you like cloth, it's actually quite formidable. You can also visit Sandaga market which you will never forget because you will not be left alone! Watch for pickpockets......
There isn't much in Thies, I never stop there when I go to St. Louis, I always take the bypass!
