Hi,We are thinking of spending some time in both of these places, possibly a few days or a few months. Any info or shared experiences would be appreciated.

I have not been to either but, I have been to Nainital which is near Almora, from various reports I've read on these two places you would have more variety of things/places to do and see, whilst in Kalimpong area, you could then head for Bhutan / Sikim, and/or some of those amazing Nth Eastern States of India.And if it takes your fancy maybe check out the Sunderbans.
