Tour of Flanders

Hello! My husband and I will be traveling in Belgium during the Tour of Flanders, and we are looking for some tips.
  • Where should we stay?
  • When should we arrive to view the race?
  • Where is the best place to view the race?
  • What is the atmosphere like at the race?
I may think of more questions, but these are the ones that are coming to me at the moment. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing your input and feedback!

Sorry, I don't know. But since you've had no luck on this forum in several days I thought I'd suggest looking at the race's website to see if they have recommendations on this type of thing. I'd expect they do.

Thanks for the reply, anyway! I have been on the website and it is not particularly helpful. I was hoping for some great ideas from the forum, but it looks like I'm out of luck. Thanks again!

OK, any local websites for the area with ideas?

Even the local couchsurfing group might know.

Hi,

Try to see the start in Bruges in the morning. It will be difficult to find a hotel/hostel during that weekend in the city, but in Gent for example you will find something and from there i'ts just 20 minutes to Bruges. After the start go immediatly to the 'Flemisch Ardens' and try to grab a spot on 'de patersberg' or 'de oude kwaremont'. The race is passing there three times and also for the atmosphere those are the best spots. But you have to be there on time because it's crowdy and the roads to these 'mountains' are closed a couple of hours beforehand. But if you leave Bruges immediatly after the start, you will be on time I think. For this option you'll need a car. If you don't have a car: after Bruges you can go by train to Oudenaarde where the finish is. In both city and on the hills I mentioned, there will be café's/tents where you can follow the race on big screens.

Enjoy,
Tom
