Italy winter camping

Hi,

We're planning a 2 week trip to Italy at the end of February starting in Rome and probably ending up in Chamonix in France.

We're hoping to spend a bit of the time walking, mountain biking and camping then skiing in France.

Just wondering what the temperature will likely be in Piedmont at that time of year and if campsites are likely to be open?

Would we be better with a campervan? Although we'd need a one way booking that we could drop off in Turin or near the border. Campervans in Italy seem very expensive and we'd need to find open camp sites with that too.

Thanks.

Not sure if campsites will be open, but the temperature will be....low.

Maybe around 5-10° in Turin and a lot less than that up in the mountains ;-)

Lots of ski resorts offer free overnight parking for campervans, as above i doubt any campsites will be open. Not sure how much mountain biking and hiking will be on offer in Piedmont although there is some great skiing no need to go to France.

As others have pointed out, you'll be lucky to find a campsite open in February anywhere!

Hmm. Doesn't sound very promising.
