Kopenhagen on a Budget - Bars and Drinks?
Okay, I know this one is tough, but I'm in Kopenhaven (Copenhagen) for a two week work thing, and wantedto see if there is any cool bars / cafes to check out that are not super expensive (glass of wine, some small snack)
and where young hip people might hang out.. and maybe some live music,
any cool districts or bars to check out?
I know it's expensive to drink here, but all tips are welcomed, otherwise i will just go stir crazy in this hotel...
Many Thanks,
c
(i typically like east berlin and east london, so that is the sort of atmosphere that draws me)

Let me get this straight, you want to go were 'Hip People' hang out, and want to visit 'Cool' districts, but you are on a budget?Yes you are right, it is a tough one and i can only wish you the best of luck, i have not been in Copenhaven for many years, and i have been told that many of its interesting areas have been made rather sterile and now yuppys and 9 to 5ers inhabit them, so i would look for an area where the values of the alternate life style is still strong, this is an area i am sure you will meet a lot of interesting 'Hip' people, including us oldies.

Okay, let me put it more simple then.. is there still parts of Copenhagen like "Kreuzberg" for example in Berlin, opposed to Mitte Berlinwhich is now filled with 9 to 5ers, expensive Bars and Cafes, and the obligatory Adidas and American Apparel Store as 'hip'
I heart the meatpacking district was cool and shabby little bars still , but from what i read it was 4 years ago...
thanks

They're not easy to find, but there are actually a few cool places to have drinks in Copenhagen without breaking the budget...Try:
Francis Pony - Cool place for cocktails, which are 2 for 1 before 11
The Moose - A little bar with a quirky crowd, 2 for 1 on spirits on some nights
Studenterhuset - Cheap beer, student hang out
Billy Booze - Not exactly hip... but it is definitely cheap
Bodegas - If you want to see what the local drinking culture is really like try any of the bodegas - local little bars that are also smoking holes... they are everywhere and have the cheapest drinks in the city
Have fun :)
