Urgent need for accommodation in Aruangabad/Ajanta

Urgent request as heading there tomorrow:
Has anyone been to Ajanta recently? If arriving in Aruangabad on train arriving 8.30pm can you get a bus straight up to Fardapur or do you need to sleep in Aruangabad and go up in the morning? Does anyone have a phone number for the Ajanta Traveller's Lodge? and what is it OK, or better to stay in Fardapur? and finally if it is necessary to sleep in Aruangabad, does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere cheap, near the station and not in the current Lonely Planet (as I have already contacted all the single and two dollar sign places in the guide and they are all full for the night I need!
Many thanks

About six months ago I stayed in Aurangabad at the Hotel Kartiki which was basic but just right for me. $400 rupees with attached private bath. Tele: 2339674. Not in my 12th edition LP India (6 years old now). Centrally located on C.B.S. Road, Samnath Nagar. Website: www.hotelkartiki.in
Email: hotelkartiki@rediff.com

See Ajanta now, as there is the possibility that some of the caves might be closed permanently to tourists in the next year or so, to help preserve them. The caves that are being considered for closure have been 'replicated' near the site and this is what tourists of the future might see.
