Is Rincon de la Vieja still closed?

I was doing some googling and saw these articles:

http://www.amcostarica.com/112812.htm#31
http://www.nacion.com/2012-02-25/Sucesos/cne-pide-abstenerse-de-visitar-crater-del-rincon-de-la-vieja.aspx

Does anyone know if they've reopened it yet? Our entire reason for going to Rincon is to climb to the top, and I want to cancel that section of our trip if its not possible.

as of this date, it is not possible to hike to the top of the volcano due to volcanic activity there. if that's your only reason, then cancel. of course, that could change tomorrow!

we wanna visit rincon de la vieja without hiking the top

is there any other activities we can do beyond the volcano?

take a look here: http://www.acguanacaste.ac.cr/1997/ecodesarrollo/ecoturismo/pailas_turing.html

also - there's the "one day adventure pass" at guachipelin which is great. http://www.guachipelin.com/one-day-pass.html
