At around the 15th of March I would like to fly from Okinawa to Beijing and I was wondering if anyone knows (cheap?) airlines that do this trip. It would be great if there is a direct flight, otherwise through Tokyo or another big city in Japan?
Besides this, I was curious if there exists a central website where I can find this information. I always find searching for flight tickets extremely nontransparent as it's never clear what airlines do which trips (unless you try every single one of them and even then you have to know all airlines). If anyone could give me some general advice for this that would be awesome.

www.skyscanner.com is pretty comprehensive in terms of showing flights between two cities. Seems like you need to go via Shanghai or another city.2
completely and totally off topic.Okinawa is part of a chain of islands most of which have really great snorkeling opportunities. If they offer snorkeling there (google indicates they do) you should avail yourself of those opportunities.

@drumbrakeCool thanks I didn't know about that website. I checked it and the lowest fare it gets is 375$, indeed via Shanghai. However, it seems to check a limited number of airlines. I know that Asia has a fair number of low-cost airlines so I think it might be possible to get a cheaper ticket with one of them. Therefore, does anyone know any low-cost airlines that do the trip Okinawa - Beijing (preferably) or Tokyo - Beijing?

Haha thanks for the advice. I've done snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and I loved it. If I get the chance in Okinawa I will definitely do it.

I think it covers most airlines. It will only show those airlines that fly from Okinawa to Beijing - either direct or with stops.You can also search from Okinawa to anywhere, which shows all the airlines you can use:
