3 weeks in the Philippines
Hi all.I was hoping to get a little advice. We are heading to the Philippines for three weeks. I have asked a few people I know, who have been there, for some advice, but I have got a range of answers on this topic. I know its a vast array of islands, so everyone will have a different opinion on where to go but I thought I would put it out there in the Thorn Tree world.
We are flying into Cebu and flying out of Manila. We have just done our open water PADI course so we are hoping to enjoy some diving while we are there. Obviously, seeing a whale shark is on the wish list, but I understand the nature of, well, nature! If possible we would hope to do our advanced. Any suggestions? We love nature and do enjoy trekking as well.
My original plan consisted of flying into Cebu and heading towards Dumaguete in Negros. I heard Apo Island was a good spot for diving. Can anyone confirm this? After I wanted to go to Bohol for the Chocolate hills and then onto South Leyte, for more diving. Then it was onto Donsol. And finishing up in Manila. However, I have had some great feedback on Palawan and Luzon.
Any suggestions on good dive sites, best ways to get around, knowledge about mentioned areas, and general Filipino advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, Apo Island has great diving as does Bohol, especially Balicasag Island which is accessed from Alona Beach. Southern Leyte is also a good option, fantastic diving and the possibilty to see Whalesharks in Sogod Bay.A good route for 3 weeks might be Cebu to Moalboal (good diving there and great place to do your AOW) Down to Dumaguete for Apo Island, ferry to Bohol, ferry to Leyte..
