Sabah
At the end of March I have a spare week before I fly out of Singapore and I also have some Singapore Air/Silk Air miles to us up so i was thinking about a quick trip to either Sabah or Penang, All I am looking for is a quiet beach where I can walk along the sand, dangle my toes in the sea, read a few books and eat fresh fish. I know that there are a lot of other options but I don't wish to spend my time travelling so it must be quick and easy to and from Singapore. Any suggestions2
The food is better in Penang but the beaches are better in Sabah. KK has some very accessible islands at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. There is also a night market where they have fresh seafood in KK.I've been to both places many times and prefer Penang for its history and food, but it sounds like you are after somewhere in Sabah. You could try KK which would be easy for you to get to.
I've got more detailed write-ups and photos of both places at my blog at http://www.stphotographics.com/
Have fun!

As you can see the beaches in Pinang suck. Best would be the islands on peninsular Malaysia's east coast. If you want to go to Sabah, it's either the expensive islands off Semporna or the Tip of Borneo.
