Ometepe ferry to San Jorge about 1 hour
San Jorge bus to Rivas or taxi, 20 minutes
Rivas bus to border, or taxi, 35 minutes ish
Border 1-2 hours
Bus from border to Liberia (leave every 30 minutes) 2 hours
Taxi hire or shuttle from Liberia to Rincon. 1 hour 20 minutes ish...

I did exactly like Solo said...

Be prepared for a long line at the border...that was the slowest one we crossed in all of CA.

BTW the shuttles go up to the Rincon every morning...pick you up at your hostel/hotel....and then take you back again early evening.

hey luca
where do u suggest us to stay to visit rincon de la vieja?
do u think that we can sleep in a town nearby and from there organize a day trip to rincon?
or we can sleep in rincon?

I slept in Liberia. At the Hotel Liberia...nothing special, but good enough.I think it was about US$17-18 for a double.

Then got the shuttle up to the Rincon and back down in the evening.

There are places to stay up there as well, but I didn't have much time so it was easier to do it like that for me.

You're welcome...glad you liked it! Did you climb Concepcion with Javier?

AFAIK only the summit of Rincon is closed...not the whole park. There are still plenty of walks around the volcanic areas,to the waterfalls etc.

I liked Rincon a lot......the volcanic stuff was really interesting and the forest was great for walking.Plenty of wildlife and birds too.

Not many tourists...not really like Arenal at all; no zip lines or that kind of stuff.....
