three days in ometepe

hi guys
i m going to ometepe in a couple days
according to our LP we could stay in altagracia, moyogalpa, santo domingo or cerro verde.
we r a bit confused cos we dont know where to stay
we d like to do an hiking on the volcano above all and maybe visiting the waterfalls san ramon...
where do u suggest us to stay?
consider that we'll get from altagracia (cos we r in granada now) and we'll board again from san jose del sur or moyogalpa to san juan del sur.

Take abus from Altagracia to Balgue on the Maderas part of the island. Ask the driver to let you of at the "enpalme" and walk to hostal "El Porvenir", a good startingpoint to walk up or climb the Maderas volcano...

I just hiked up the San Ramon waterfall today. I had my hotel taxi take me to the parking. Unfortunately when I got to a big bowl of boulders I thought I was at the end of the trail and the waterfall was dry. Looks like a bit of a scramble the last 100m, so don't make the mistake I did. Walked back down and to my hotel (La Omaja), so that was 8km anyway. Plenty of exercise on a warm day.

Yesterday I tried again with some people I met at the hotel, and managed to find the waterfall. Worth the 2nd try. We had the taxi pick us up at the parking for the ride back. We also did kayaking on the estuary; lots of birds and other wildlife, and a lot of fun.
